Duke University Affiliate Physicians (DUAP)
Formed in 1994, DUAP is a world-class network of skilled physicians’ clinics that serves the varied health care needs of residents in eight counties across the greater Triangle area. With more than 95 physicians, and an entire team of assistants and nurse practitioners working out of 20 locations, DUAP is effectively extending the reach and results of the Duke Medicine systems throughout our local community.
DUAP supports Duke Medicine’s mission of education, research and patient care through the development and integration of a full-service primary care network. At the same time, we’re also providing a lifetime of opportunities for nurses and other health care professionals in a range of service areas including: primary internal medicine, family practice and general pediatrics, acute and chronic care management, prevention and wellness, and urgent care.
Private Diagnostic Clinic
While not a formal member of the Duke University Health System, another affiliated partner in providing care is the Private Diagnostic Clinic, PLLC—an independent, for-profit limited liability company through which Duke faculty physicians practice medicine. Many clinics are on the Duke University campus, but many others are located throughout Durham and Wake counties; more than 150 outreach clinics are held each month in surrounding communities.

At Duke, we recognize the importance of being happy not only in the workplace, but also in the place you call home. Fortunately for Duke nurses, whatever your personal lifestyle, you can enjoy it in North Carolina's Triangle, a beautiful, bustling metropolitan area that includes the cities of Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Cary.
Just 30 minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the city of Durham is within easy driving distance from North Carolina's majestic mountains to the west, and the picturesque waters of the Atlantic coast to the east. And with its nearly endless variety of educational, recreational and cultural amenities, it's easy to see why the quality of life in Durham is consistently rated among the nation's best by such leading publications as Money magazine and U.S. News and World Report.
