Clinical Lead RN– Duke Raleigh Hospital – Operating Room - DAYS

Duke University Health System- Duke Raleigh Hospital seeks to hire a Clinical Lead RN who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. Operating Room experience required.

Department Profile:
The Operating Room at Duke Raleigh Hospital has 15 Operating Rooms and 4 Procedural Rooms with Intraoperative CT capabilities. Our facility averages over 65 cases per day and 17,000 per year. We provide all perioperative specialties except open hear and transplant. Advanced Technology includes DaVinci Robotics. This position will work with a team of 14 in the following specialties: Vascular, Thoracic, Colorectal, General and Breast. Work Hours & Shifts:
Full Time
6:30 a - 3:00p Mon - Fri.
Administrative Call 1 WKEND per Month. Holiday call as needed 1 - 2X per Year.

Occupational Summary

The Clinical Lead RN is a role developed to work in coordination withthe nursing leadership in an assigned unit or department to ensure teleworker is accomplished effectively. The Clinical Lead RN is the first linesupport for staff, physicians and other related providers on service-specific clinical issues. The Clinical Lead RN is generally a long-termrole, requiring clinical and interpersonal skills. The Clinical Lead RNcollaborates with the manager on clinical and non-clinical issues(employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships,etc.). The Clinical Lead RN is the support for theunit/department/service when the manager is unavailable. The ClinicalTeam Leader is responsible for supervising, directing, coaching andmentoring their assigned core group of staff.

Work Performed

Duties and responsibilities include all those required of the CN IV aswell as:Plan and coordinate clinical requirements for staff and ensure that all CBO and CBE requirements for staff are current.Plan and assist with coordination of unit staff schedules and submit formanager approval.Coordinate clinical requirements with staff regarding equipment and supplies.Consult with preceptors and orientees on a regular basis to provide support and determine how orientation should proceed on an individualbasis.Collaborate with the manager for issue resolutions and projects to improve work flow processes throughout the department utilizing a proactive approach.Collaborate with different departments (pharmacy, radiology, lab,registration) to resolve issues and improve work flow processes throughout the department.Collaborate with the nurse managers in the interview process for new applicants.

Mentor/coach staff to enhance their professional development.Assesses the performance of assigned new hires and orientees includingentry level nurses, nursing care assistants and health unit coordinators; provides ongoing feedback and coaching.Understand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supply issues to appropriate team members (Materials, Biomed, Sterile Processing,etc).Mentor and monitor the preceptors for all new employees.Provide clinical/education updates and skill check-offs to entire staff on a regular basis.Provides immediate support and education on policy, procedures,equipment and supplies.Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching newtechnology/procedures.

Demonstrates awareness of current problems and basic plan for allpatients within assigned area.Provides clinical consultation and guidance as needed to facilitate patient care.Gives assistance and/or direction to staff to facilitate quality patientflow.Assess staffing needs according to workload and staff competency; Re-assigns and adjusts staffing based upon patient care needs.Delegates responsibilities within the scope of practice and validated competencies in order to meet the workload demands of the shift.Facilitates assignments that support learning for the orientee or nurse learner.Promotes an atmosphere of open communication that facilitates staffinput into decision-making, resolution of conflict, and collegialityamong all health team members.Communicates in an effective, professional manner.

Facilitates staff performance audits related to attitude, teamperformance, The Joint Commission, DFS Standards and SCIP initiatives.Reviews and comments on forwarded SRSs related to their team or shift.Facilitates and encourages staff participation in departmental andhospital committee and council meetings.Attends departmental and hospital committee meetings as assigned.Coordinates, facilitates, participates and directs departmental projectswith follow-through and appropriate follow-up.Other projects and duties as directed by the department managers.
